Hi everyone. It’s really great to be with you. I want to talk to you about gratitude today because we are coming into holiday time. It’s a really wonderful time of the year. But I have to say to you that any time of the year, every single day of the year, every month of the year is the perfect time to practice gratitude, because nothing, and I promise you, nothing will change your life faster than gratitude. So if you do some gratitude today, your life will be different by the weekend I promise you.
What I have found with gratitude, when I first discovered The Secret, what I found with gratitude was that my life changed so fast from practising gratitude. It was absolutely incredible. I noticed a difference in hours. So if I did gratitude in the morning, by the afternoon, everything was different. And so I’d like to share some things with you about gratitude to inspire you. If you’ve used gratitude in your life before, then you will know how incredible it is. But if you haven’t used it for a while, why not give yourself a holiday boost? If you can practice gratitude for just the next week, I would invite you to. Just for a week. After seven days, you will be amazed at how your life has changed. You will notice your life changing in 24 hours, 48 hours.
What gratitude does is it reprograms your mind. So while you are being grateful for things, you’re training your mind to be more positive and to look for the good things in life. And when you look for the good things in life, the universe lines up heaps more good things for you. The other thing that gratitude does is it brings you into the present moment. So it stops negative thoughts, and I think everybody wants negative thoughts to stop. And so while you’re being grateful, you cannot possibly have a negative thought. And just training your mind…remember your mind is like a program. If it has a tendency towards negativity, you can easily reprogram it to be more positive. And gratitude does it better and faster than anything else.
The other thing that I want you to know is that every single time you feel gratitude and express gratitude, you are in that moment attracting more things to be grateful for. And so just think about that. Like, I am so grateful for this gorgeous day today or I am so grateful that my car is working really well or whatever you are grateful for… the moment you deliver that gratitude and you feel that sincerely in your heart, you are attracting more and more things to be grateful for. Something else that gratitude does is it causes you to let go of resistance. And one of the things that stops all of the abundance from coming into our lives is resistance. And so gratitude just has you kind of let go and relax and let go of that resistance. Let’s say you are… in the morning you wake up and you are going to do 10 things to be grateful for. I would suggest an absolute minimum you do 10 things to be grateful for. But I want to give you a tip that I use which was incredible a little bit later on. So 10 things to be grateful for, and you don’t say oh I’m grateful for this this this this this and this. No, that’s not the way that you do it. You say a whole sentence – “I am truly grateful for…” and then you say what it is – fill in the blank. Or you say “Thank you thank you thank you for… “and fill in the blank. And so you always do a full sentence with each thing that you’re grateful for.
One of the things that I like to do at nighttime is go back over the day and pick out the 10 things that I am really grateful for that happened that day. And again as you feel and express every single one of those things you’re grateful for, you are in that moment attracting more things to be grateful for, more things to be grateful for.
So gratitude helps you go from your mind into your heart and you can actually feel it in your body. So what I would suggest is that you really get to know your body. So, as you’re doing gratitude, I would do it until you feel relief, or you feel a softening in your heart. I used to do it until I had tears in my eyes. And so sometimes it would be 5… it would only take 5 things to be grateful for and I would have a complete meltdown. And then sometimes it would take 25 so it just depends but I know that when… I knew that when I had tears in my eyes, when I felt my heart absolutely melt, and you really feel it and you’ll know what I mean when you do this… then you know you’ve changed your frequency. And your day ahead is going to be completely different from what it would’ve been. So this is the incredible thing about gratitude. It’s so amazing and it’s the reason why it’s one of the powerful processes in The Secret and I have never stopped using it. If something goes wrong in my life, I immediately start doing gratitude.
