About ten years ago, my husband was involved in a car accident that left him unable to drive. His pick-up truck was hit in the rear by an inattentive driver at 45 mph spinning him around causing his hip to go out of place and suffer severe whiplash. Being a trucker driver, this meant he was not working or collecting a paycheck. I was only working part-time and we had no health benefits. With two young children I did what I had to; I used credit cards to purchase food, put gas in our vehicles, and made house, car, and insurance payments. You can imagine how quickly the balances shot up. With medical bills piling up and my husband gone a lot working, I felt alone. I was raising the kids on my own with him gone so much and I took an additional part-time job to supplement my day job. My parents watched the kids so we could work, which seemed like all the time, and there was no family time.

The day finally came when I had more debt than paycheck. Fear hit when I realized that I was $50 short of making my house payment. There was nothing left for groceries or hot lunch money for the kids. Our credit cards were maxed and I had entered a check in the checkbook registry as a deposit by mistake. I had checks bouncing and the fees that they caused felt like I had just been given a sentence to a life of poverty.

God was watching over us, and I had a guardian angel. My boss at the time heard me telling a friend at work about all my financial difficulties and she told me about Catholic Charities and what this organization could do to help someone like me. I called that same day, made an appointment, and as they say, the rest is history.

At least that is what I thought. I was so happy to just be making ends meet and the credit card debt slowly going down. Then a co-worker was reading the book “The Secret” and she had read a passage out loud for the group to hear. I was intrigued and bought the book and now I say, the rest is history.

By the end of this year I will be totally debt free. My business has seen some amazing results in such a short time. I am helping people to help themselves to receive their secret desires. The Secret is truly real and I’m a believer. I own the book, given copies to my children and have just received the movie. I understand all the true workings in the past four years of my life and how I made them happen. I understand how to keep them going to achieve all my wildest dreams and have a plan to get there, for I have learned that a dream without a plan is just a wish and I am positive I will make it happen.
