My new daughter-in-law gave me a bookstore gift certificate for Christmas 2007. Two weeks ago I was able to take some time by myself and went shopping. The certificate was for $10. I had not read The Secret, but happened to find the Book of Gratitude on clearance. I glanced through it and found it would be the perfect size for my purse as a journal. That night I read through some of the pages and my curiosity was peaked, so I bought the book too (at another book store).
I am not finished reading the entire book yet, but decided to try out the power of thought. I budget a certain amount for groceries each week. Today I went shopping and decided not to use my handy calculator or keep a tally in my head. I just continued to say to myself that I had enough cash in my pocket to pay for what we needed. At the checkout, I ended up $15 under budget. That extra money can now be spent on an upcoming visit with my son before he deploys to Afghanistan. My husband and I will be reading the entire book together starting tonight.
