The Miracle Companion.

Sri LankaI am a single working mother, an Executive/Leadership Coach and a Diversity Specialist. I currently live in a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean, named Sri Lanka. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by warm breezes, sunny days, balmy evenings and blissful vacations on the beach. I have known about The Secret for a very long time but became a believer after losing and finding my beloved kitty, Suki. This was when I found that I had been actively practicing the "Ask, Believe, Receive"!
She is my companion; she sleeps in my bed, takes naps on my desk as I work, and watches TV with me. Ever since I became an empty nester, her presence has brought me comfort and helped to alleviate the loneliness that I often feel.
Suki is a 12 year old kitty. She is a pure white, long-haired, Persian with a sweet, shy, and timid disposition. She refuses to eat anything other than her favorite brand of dry cat food and only drinks fresh water directly off the faucet. So, yes, she is a bit of a prima donna.
My only problem with Suki was that she slept all day and wanted to play at night. As she loved laying with me on my bed, I would keep her with me for as long as possible and right before falling asleep, gently carry her out of my room and shut the door. On the 1st of August, I did just that. Little did I know that Suki was about to embark on the biggest adventure of her life!
I realized that Suki was missing almost 24 hours later when I found that her food was untouched and I couldn’t find her in my apartment. I searched and called her to no avail. Then, I began my giant rescue mission. I searched, advertised, wrote posts and mailers, researched about what happens to missing cats, prayed, reviewed hours and hours of CCTV footage, and walked around my building 4 times a day. Even as late as 11 pm while calling out to her. Although all these efforts were futile, I believed, very strongly, that Suki would return.
My daughter and partner knew how much I loved Suki and planned to get me a kitten. However, I adamantly refused their well-meaning gesture as I knew that in time, Suki would come back. My many Google searches revealed that a missing animal can only live for a week without water. I worried about this and what she would eat. But I also visualized my kitty sitting outside my front door. I knew that she would have lost weight. I imagined what it would feel to hold her and how I would make sure that she wouldn’t stray again.
Weeks went by and my partner gave me a deadline, the 31st of August, one month since Suki went missing. This was for me to give up my efforts to find her, accept that she was no more, and move on. But, I refused to accept this. I knew that Suki was not dead and that she would come back. I looked at her picture every day and willed her to return and felt her presence and was so very thankful for her.
Then, on the 30th of August, I got a call that there was a very weak kitty found in the basement of my building. I rushed home and there she was; barely recognizable, dirty, weak, and very thin, but definitely my Suki. I rushed her to the vet where she had to be kept for a few days to be rehydrated and given antibiotics. Although the vet wanted to keep her longer, I decided to bring her home early and care for her.
Today, five months later, Suki has gained back her body weight, and most of her fur and is a very happy and contented kitty. She is sitting at my table even as I write this.
I am so very grateful for The Secret, the principles of which I knew. I had been unknowingly practicing The Secret and that brought my beloved Suki back to me. Truly a miracle!
