I grew up in a very modest existence. I grew being very rich with love and broke monetarily!
My parents had been raised to grow up and get a job. My mother was raised that the man supports the home. I was raised to get good grades and the rest would come. Although now not raising my own children as the same, I have to thank my parents in many ways.
I was born in a small town in Southern Illinois and raised just to get good grades. Unfortunately for my parents none of the three of their children ever got that down to a science.
My older brother Roy and I grew up in Florence SC. My father a Truck Driver and my mother a stay at home truckers wife, we needed for a lot of things, yet love was not one of them. We lived 18 months of our life on gravy and bread, and our only true meal was “Free Lunch” at school. Growing up we knew we were better than all this. We knew we could be more. My brother and I would collect soda bottles and take them to the store and get 10 cents a piece for them. Sometimes to buy more bread or maybe get candy and a soda and bring the rest home to mom.
I was married by the time I was 16 and had my first daughter by 17. My husband and I married in March and our first daughter was born in August 1988. I longed to find the life I dreamed of, I just did not know where to start. I longed for a nice house and nice car and nice things. I longed to dress my children in new clothes and not look at the price as I ordered a meal at a restaurant.
My husband had not been raised to dream and was content with his life as it was. He always thought it was not right to want more in life, just be happy with what you had. I never could do that. For at least 15 years after living in trailers and broke down houses, I was growing more and more in life and with him. I stated that in order to get more we had to live in better places and have better things. We did just that. For 8-10 years I drew pictures of this home in my mind and in my dreams. The home was exact and precise in my dreams. You walked into the front door and to the right was the office, to the left was the formal dining area. The office was connected to the master suite and the formal dining was connected to the kitchen on in through the dining and the laundry to the garage. From the garage you could get to the pool. From the other side of the house you were able to go from the formal living room through the sun room and out to the back deck and pool. It was always in my visions and drawn hundreds of time for those years. May of 2004 Mark and I signed papers on just that house. We have even added a home theatre in the home. It is a 5000sq. ft. home, 5 bedrooms 4 1/2 bth. home. He has begun to dream bigger and now had the oppurtunity to see that it is ok to want more out of life. My dreams have outgrown this home we are in and looking at an 8500 sq. ft home with a pool house and tennis courts and stables. We dream and plan to move into this home after the first of the year. We are raising our girls to dream big and plan big. Our grand daughter is a people and money magnet… She has been held by team players from the Utah Jazz and Miami Heat! She has been held by multi millionaires. She will be at least a multi millionaire by the time she is 10yrs.
