I watched The Secret last Sunday… twice in one day. I knew immediately that things had changed.

My sister and I, for the last two or three years, have been talking about starting out own magazine “one day”. About a year ago I got an opportunity to be the editor of a subscription-based newsletter-type magazine for a company. A couple of months later the boss announced she wanted to distribute into newsagents nationally. And just a couple of months ago I asked for my sister (who also works for the company) to be transferred to work on the magazine with me and be my deputy editor. It happened easily, and we’re very happily working on the magazine together while planning to apply for a grant later in the year to begin our own magazine.

This is the cool part – two days after watching The Secret, I received a package of back issues that I had ordered of a magazine I really like the design of. One of the back issues they put in was mixed up with the editor’s copy… so I got his copy, with oodles of EXTREMELY useful and interesting notes written on pages all the way through – notes about design, layout and advertising.

I was stunned that the universe had worked in such an amazing way and so quickly… if that magazine had gone to anyone else, they would have been annoyed that somebody had scrawled all through it. But it didn’t go to somebody else – it came to me, and I felt like I’d struck gold!
